Meeting with Archbishop Francis Leo

On June 23, 2023, the first official meeting of His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church Diocese of Canada, and Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, Vicar and Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Armenian Church with Archbishop Francis Leo, took place at the Archdiocese of Toronto.

During the meeting the details of the upcoming prayer service dedicated to Saint Gregory of Narek were discussed. Saint Gregory is a prominent figure in Armenian Church and was recognized as a Doctor of the Church by Pope Francis in 2015. His literary masterpiece, "The Book of Lamentations," holds a significant place in Armenian religious and cultural heritage.

This prayer service is to deepen the understanding and appreciation of Saint Gregory of Narek’s spiritual legacy within the Christian community and deepen the bonds of friendship between the Armenian Church Diocese of Canada and Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto.
