Biography
Yervant Chouljian, a devoted family man and a beloved engineer went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2026, he was 94.
He was born in Alexandria Egypt to Levon and Victoria Chouljian. He was the middle child: Aram being his older brother and Annie his younger sister. His schooling started at Meghitarian, then went on to College Saint Marc (De La Salle Brothers) then ended with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Alexandria University. His dedication and hard work grew his father’s business (Leon Works) to 52 employees before he left it and emmigrated to Canada in 1970. His engineering career in Canada began at Schindler Elevators and ended in the oil and gas industry.
Upon retirement he started to read and study Economics and at the age of 72 he started day trading. He then narrowed his focus and specialized in currency trading until he was 92. This is what kept his mind sharp and engaged to the end.
He met the love of his life Seta Teghrarian in 1960 and together they raised two daughters: Nora Wallenburg and Taleen Chouljian. His love and passion in the latter part of his life were his grandchildren: Christine and Mathew Wallenburg. His home was always open to all: he loved people and loved to entertain. His zest for life, laughter, thirst for learning, integrity and dedication to his community will remain his enduring legacy.
He is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Levon and Victoria Chouljian, and his sister Annie Tahtadjian. He is survived by his wife Seta, his daughters Nora and Taleen, Fred Wallenburg (son-in-law), Christine and Mathew Wallenburg (grandchildren), Aram Chouljian (brother), Dr. Raffy & Sonya Chouljian (nephew & wife), Greg & Tania Chouljian (nephew & wife), Dr. Cyril & Noushig Tahtadjian (nephew & wife) and Karen & Michael Wagman (niece & husband).
Condolences Letter
Dear Mrs. Seta, Nora, Taleen, and the entire Chouljian and Wallenburg families,
It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of our beloved Mr. Yervant Chouljian.
Although I am away and unable to be physically present at the funeral services, my heart, prayers, and thoughts are with you and all your relatives and friends during this difficult time.
Yervant was a truly remarkable man whose presence touched the lives of so many. He was a man of deep Christian faith, warmth, wisdom, strength, and positivity. His love for the Church was evident throughout his life, and Holy Trinity Armenian Church was truly his second home. His unwavering devotion, kind spirit, integrity, and constant desire to learn and grow were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Throughout his life, Yervant approached every stage of life with dedication and purpose. He was hardworking, curious, and always eager to continue learning. Even in his later years, he remained intellectually engaged and sharp, always interested in understanding more about the world around him.
Above all, Yervant was devoted to his family. The love he shared with you, dear Seta, and the beautiful family you built together over the decades was evident to everyone around him. His grandchildren, Christine and Matthew, were such an important and cherished part of his life and brought him immense pride and joy. His warm hospitality, joyful spirit, sense of humour, and love of fellowship made every gathering brighter.
I am especially grateful that I had the opportunity to visit Yervant at the hospital shortly before his passing. We prayed together, spoke warmly, and even shared jokes and laughter like in the old days. That precious visit remains a great comfort to me and a reflection of the beautiful friendship and bond we shared over many years.
Yervant’s legacy of faith, dignity, wisdom, and love will continue to live on through his family and through the countless lives he touched within our church and community. He will be deeply missed by all of us.
May our Lord grant rest to His faithful servant and surround your family with His peace and consolation.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
On behalf of Yeretsgin Naira and our sons, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire family.
