Biography

Gary Karabet Hadjikezian, known warmly to all his friends and colleagues in Canada as Gary, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, deep devotion to his family, and a life well-lived.

Born in Egypt on April 28, 1933, Gary carried with him a rich heritage and an adventurous spirit. He married the love of his life, Anna Maria Calorio, and together they welcomed their beloved son, Berge, in September 1961.

Seeking new opportunities and a bright future for his family, Gary made the bold decision in 1966 to move them to Canada, ultimately settling in North York. A man of incredible dedication and a strong work ethic, Gary built a successful career in the grocery industry. He started out working hard at supermarkets, rising through the ranks to become a respected manager for a supermarket chain. Later in his career, he embraced a new chapter, happily settling down to work side-by-side with Anna in their own family business.

Above all else, Gary was a family man. He loved his wife, his son Berge, and took immense pride in his three grandchildren. In his later years, during his time in long-term care, he was blessed with a wonderful new joy: meeting his precious great-grandchildren.

Gary’s resilience, gentle warmth, and dedication to the people he loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who knew him.
