Presentation of a Historic Community Project

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada, and at the initiative of Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, Vicar General and Pastor of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, together with the Parish Council, a special presentation entitled “Building Together” was held at Holy Trinity Armenian Church. The church sanctuary was filled with community members who gathered with great interest and enthusiasm to learn about this significant undertaking.

The presentation began with welcoming remarks by Ani Sarvarian, followed by an opening prayer and a heartfelt message from Bishop Hovakimian. Parish Council Chairman Mr. Raffi Bedrosyan.
Rev. Fr. Zareh Zargarian subsequently presented the overall vision of the project. In his remarks, he described the initiative as “our Artsakh,” emphasizing that such a major undertaking can only be realized through the collective will, sacrifice, and dedication of the entire community. In recognition and gratitude for the care and hospitality extended to the newly established Armenian community of Toronto by the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity from 1928 to 1953, Fr. Zareh announced that the new development will be named “Trinity Square.” He also called upon all members of the community to support this historic initiative through their prayers and generous contributions.

Project Manager James Amirian then outlined the principal components of the development and its future phases. Architect Peter Clewes followed with a detailed presentation of the proposed facilities, including a new seniors’ residence adjacent to the church, a daycare centre, the Barev Centre, a gymnasium, a banquet hall, and residential high-rise buildings. He explained the architectural design, structure, and intended functions of these facilities, which are envisioned to serve the spiritual, educational, cultural, youth, and social needs of the community for generations to come.

During the presentation, video messages were shared from the Hon. Michael Coteau, Member of Parliament for Scarborough–Woburn, and Her Worship Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto. Both expressed their best wishes, appreciation, and support for the successful realization of this important initiative. The Provincial Member of Parliament, the Hon. Aris Babikian was invited to podium and he addressed the community, underscoring the importance of the initiative and the need for the community’s united support and participation.

We appreciate all the efforts of the organizers of this important event. Please stay tuned!
At the conclusion of the gathering, Fr. Zareh once again thanked all those in attendance and reaffirmed that the “Building Together” initiative is intended to become a living symbol of the community’s collective efforts, shared vision, and enduring faith in the future.
