Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God

On Sunday, August 16, 2026, the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God was celebrated with great solemnity at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated and the message of the day was delivered by Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, Vicar of the Armenian Diocese of Canada and Pastor of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church. The deacons and altar servers served at the Holy Altar, while the Divine Liturgy was sung by the Church’s choir under the direction of Deacon Shahe Altounian, with Sona Artinian at the organ. The church was filled with many faithful who had gathered to pray together and share in the spiritual joy of the day.

In his sermon, Fr. Zareh reflected on the importance of the intercession of the Holy Mother of God and her special place in the spiritual life of our Church and the faithful. He reminded the congregation that the Holy Mother of God, as the Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, continually intercedes for us with motherly care and leads us toward her Son. Fr. Zareh encouraged the faithful, throughout every stage of their lives, to turn with confidence to the intercession of the Holy Mother of God and, through her, to offer their prayers and petitions to God.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the joy of the day continued with a special prayer for all those celebrating their name day. Fr. Zareh prayed for their health, well-being and long life, asking for God’s blessing and the intercession of the Holy Mother of God upon them and their families.

Following this prayer, the clergy, altar servers and faithful proceeded in procession to the church garden, where the traditional Blessing of the Grapes service was held.

Amid prayers and hymns, the grapes were blessed as an expression of thanksgiving for the blessings and bounty bestowed upon us by God. At the conclusion of the service, the blessed grapes were distributed to the faithful, who took them home as a share in the blessing of the day.

Thus, a day filled with prayer and the spirit of the Feast came to a close, leaving the faithful with a deep sense of spiritual fulfillment and joy.

On this blessed occasion, we pray that the Holy Mother of God, through her intercession, may always be a source of protection and shelter for our Holy Church, our community, our families, and the entire Armenian nation.

Կիրակի, 16 Օգոստոս 2026-ին, Սուրբ Երրորդութիւն Հայց. Առաքելական Եկեղեցւոյ մէջ մեծ շուքով նշուեցաւ Սուրբ Մարիամ Աստուածածնի Վերափոխման Տօնը։

Սուրբ եւ Անմահ Պատարագը մատոյց եւ օրուան պատգամը փոխանցեց Գանատահայոց Թեմի Փոխառաջնորդ եւ Սուրբ Երրորդութիւն Եկեղեցւոյ Հոգեւոր Հովիւ՝ Արժ. Տ. Զարեհ Աւ. Քհնյ. Զարգարեան։ Սուրբ Խորանին սպասարկեցին եկեղեցւոյ սարկաւագներն ու դպիրները, իսկ Սուրբ Պատարագի երգեցողութիւնը կատարուեցաւ Եկեղեցւոյս բազմաձայն երգչախումբին կողմէ՝ Բրշ. Շահէ Սրկ. Ալթունեանի ղեկավարութեամբ եւ Սոնա Արթինեանի երգեհոնահարութեամբ։ Եկեղեցին լեցուած էր բազմաթիւ հաւատացեալներով, որոնք եկած էին միասնաբար աղօթելու եւ բաժնեկից դառնալու օրուան հոգեւոր ուրախութեան։

Տէր Զարեհ իր քարոզին մէջ անդրադարձաւ Սուրբ Մարիամ Աստուածածնի բարեխօսութեան կարեւորութեան եւ անոր ունեցած առանձնայատուկ տեղին մեր Եկեղեցւոյ ու հաւատացեալներու հոգեւոր կեանքին մէջ։ Ան յիշեցուց, որ Սուրբ Աստուածածինը, որպէս մեր Տիրոջ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի Մայրը, իր մայրական բարեխօսութեամբ մշտապէս կ՚աղօթէ մեզի համար եւ մեզ կ՚առաջնորդէ դէպի իր Որդին։ Տէր Հայրը հրաւիրեց հաւատացեալները իրենց կեանքի բոլոր հանգրուաններուն վստահութեամբ դիմելու Սուրբ Աստուածածնի բարեխօսութեան եւ անոր միջոցով իրենց խնդրանքներն ու աղօթքները մատուցելու Աստուծոյ։

Սուրբ Պատարագի աւարտին, օրուան ուրախութեան միացաւ նաեւ իրենց անուանակոչութիւնը տօնող հաւատացեալներուն յատուկ աղօթքը։ Տէր Հայրը աղօթեց անոնց առողջութեան, բարօրութեան եւ արեւշատութեան համար՝ հայցելով Աստուծոյ օրհնութիւնն ու Սուրբ Աստուածածնի բարեխօսութիւնը անոնց եւ իրենց ընտանիքներուն վրայ։

Աղօթական այս պահէն ետք, եկեղեցականաց դասը եւ հաւատացեալ ժողովուրդը թափօրով ուղղուեցան եկեղեցւոյ պարտէզը, ուր կատարուեցաւ Խաղողօրհնէքի աւանդական արարողութիւնը։

Աղօթքներու եւ շարականներու ներքեւ օրհնուեցան խաղողները՝ իբրեւ Աստուծոյ պարգեւած բարիքներուն համար երախտագիտութեան արտայայտութիւն։ Արարողութեան աւարտին օրհնուած խաղողները բաժնուեցան հաւատացեալներուն, որոնք իրենց հետ տարին տուն՝ որպէս օրուան օրհնութեան բաժին։

Այսպէս, աղօթքով եւ տօնական շունչով յագեցած օրը իր աւարտին հասաւ՝ հոգեւոր գոհունակութիւն եւ բերկրանք պարգեւելով հաւատացեալներուն։

Այս տօնական առիթով կ՚աղօթենք, որ Սուրբ Մարիամ Աստուածածինը իր բարեխօսութեամբ մշտապէս հովանի եւ պահապան ըլլայ մեր Սուրբ Եկեղեցւոյ, մեր համայնքին, մեր ընտանիքներուն եւ համայն հայ ժողովուրդին։
