Mario Gumushdjian Library

The Mario Gumushdjian Library was established in 2006 in loving memory of the late Mario Gumushdjian, whose passion for reading and lifelong love of knowledge touched many subjects, including architecture, art, history, and science. Yet it was the reading of the Bible that profoundly shaped his life.

About the Mario Gumushdjian Library

Through the written Word of God, Mario found life, and through the Holy Spirit, his spirit continues to inspire us. It is in this spirit that the Library was founded—as a living testament to faith, knowledge, and devotion, and as a gift to future generations.

The mission of the Mario Gumushdjian Library is to inspire a love of God in children, provide Orthodox reference materials for parents and teachers, and spread the Word of God and knowledge of the Lord throughout our community. With over 600 books, the Library offers a rich collection of Orthodox Christian Armenian resources that support and enrich the curriculum taught in community schools, while nurturing the Christian values of service, leadership, and faith in everyday life.

During the academic year, Sunday School students visit the Library each month for Library Day, where children and volunteers explore interactive lessons on the parables of the Bible through select, kid-friendly texts. All parishioners—especially children—are encouraged to borrow books on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., becoming active Patrons of the Library and continuing its mission of spiritual growth.

Psalm 23:1-3
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the path of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
