Every winter, since 2005, Armenian Family Support Services, Holy Trinity Armenian Church, host a symbolic Soup Kitchen, serving delicious soup and lavash as a reminder that there are many in our neighbourhoods and around the world that need the support of community members to provide hunger relief. The recent cold temperatures and tragic deaths in our city attest to this need.
Our Shining Light on Mental Health Series was created two years ago, in response to increased requests we receive for mental health referrals. We hope that through this Series we can lay the groundwork for open dialogue. This will provide our community with the forum to learn and speak about mental health issues in order to alleviate the perceived stigma, removing the cloud of “amot” for those dealing with mental health problems personally or in their families.
We have two professional guest speakers who will provide vital information and shine light on mental health. There will be opportunity to ask questions and we will have information available to take home. The talks will take place following the Soup Kitchen. Please see flyer for details.
We hope you will join us for this year’s 10th annual Soup Kitchen and help us provide the much-needed support in shining light on mental health.
