Blessing of the New Church Doors-Feb. 4, 2007 Minimize

On Sunday February 4, 2007, immediately following the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Canadian Diocese, blessed the new doors of Holy Trinity Armenian Church.

The beautifully decorated doors lead from the main lobby into the sanctuary.  The fire-rated doors are actually steel, hand-painted to resemble fine wood.  Hand-carved wooden motifs reflect graceful, original and stunning Armenian “khatchkar” style crosses and “eternity” medallions.

Topping the huge double doors are stained-glass panels depicting Holy Etchmiadzin and our national emblems, the mountains of Ararat and Masis.
This masterpiece has been donated to Holy Trinity by Mr. and Mrs. Ohan and Anita Ohanessian, in loving memory of their parents, Abcar and Araxy Ohanessian. See the photos...

Feast of Holy Pentecost - May 27, 2007 Minimize

By Mona Selyan
The Feast of Holy Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles on the 50th day (or seventh Sunday) after Easter.  This feast day coincides with the Hebrew harvest festival Shavuot.  Pentecost or Hokekalousd is described as the Holy Spirit taking the form of tongues of fire and the sound of a rush of wind.
Why tongues of fire? Tongues symbolize speech and the communication of the good news.  Fire symbolizes God’s purifying presence, which burns away the undesirable elements of our life and sets our heart aflame to ignite the lives of others.

At Pentecost, fire came down on many believers, symbolizing that God’s presence is available to all who believe in him. Read more...   see the photos...

Very Rev. Fr. Artak Tigranyan in St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Saturday School Minimize

On Saturday October 20, 2007, the students of St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Armenian Saturday School were honoured and happy to welcome Very Reverend Father Artak Tigranyan for a school visit.  Father Artak Tigranyan was escorted by His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanian and Rev. Arch. Fr. Zareh Zargarian, who together visited many classrooms with the school principal Sonia Kradjian and Taline Moushian, chair of the Board of Trustees.

s.jpg
Very Reverend Father Artak Tigranyan reminded the students that they are very fortunate to live in a prosperous country like Canada which provides them with such wonderful opportunities.  He encouraged the students to focus on their studies, keeping in mind that their fellow classmates in Armenia often have to juggle classwork with numerous other chores, such as collecting wood for fires, milking cows, bringing water from wells...  He told the students that the most important thing in life is to be a “good person”, and everything else will follow from that.  The Grade 8 students were especially happy to meet Very Reverend Father Artak Tigranyan, as they will have the opportunity to see him again at Haghpat Monastery this summer during their trip to Armenia following graduation.
