Help Us, Help Newcomers
The Aremnian Family Support
Services (AFSS) has been providing
furniture and furnishings to our newcomer families and those in need for
more
than five years; we thank all donors who have made this mission possible
through
their generous donations of used furniture and funrnishings and thank
all those
who made monetory donations to support the cause.
The task of collecting donated
items when donors want the
items removed, storing them and then delivering when families request
the items
has been quite challenging to manage; at this time, we are in need of a
storage
facility preferably in an industrial unit, to store the donated items
and be
able to provide those in need when a request is received.
| | Hence, we ask our community to assist us in finding a
suitable storage space approx. 400 sq. ft., for temporary storage of donated
furniture and furnishings. If you do possess an unused space in your industrial
unit, warehouse, plant or office, and would like to partner with us in our
beautiful mission, please contact AFSS office at:(416)431-5549 and speak with
Ms. Seta Kevorkian to receive additional information regarding this request. If
no one is in the office, please leave a message and we will get back to you as
soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support in providing our
Newcomers to Canada
with unique warmth.

Saturday April 24 – “Commemoration
of The 95th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide” at St. Sahag &
St. Mesrob Armenian Saturday School
On Saturday
April 24 at 9:45 a.m. more than 200 students from St. Sahag
& St. Mesrob Armenian Saturday school, together with their teachers walked
from the rear doors of the A.G.B.U., through the parking lot holding red
carnations and placards (prepared by the Grade 4 students) and ended up
gathering
at the Memorial Statue in front of the Church. The walk reminded us of
the
march to “Ztizernagapert” in our homeland.
Under
clear blue skies, Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian together with the
principal
Mrs. Sonia Kradjian were at the front of the long line of students who
were exceptionally
cooperative realizing that the Genocide is the heart of all Armenians,
both in
our homeland and the Diaspora.

Palm Sunday
|
One week before the Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Armenian Church celebrates the Feast of Palm Sunday, celebrating the Triumphant Entry of Christ into Jerusalem. Jesus rode into Jerusalem atop a donkey and the people gathered to meet Him with reverence, thus fulfilling the words of the prophet from the Old Testament.
The Gospel of St. Matthew, in relating the story, refers to the prophecy, “All this was done, that it might be fulfilled, that which was spoken by the prophet, saying “Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your king is coming to you! He is humble and sitting on an ass, and a colt, the foal of an ass.” (Mt 21:4-5). Read more... |
