Holy Trinity Armenian Church Golf Committee has been organizing four Tournaments from September 2005.
This year, Haig Ampagoumian took on the huge responsibility to chair the 3rd annual golf tournament committee, relieving Masis Afarian who had been committee chairman for the 1st and 2nd annual golf tournaments. Masis’ ongoing presence and knowledge was much appreciated.

HTAC Golf Committee's Third Annual Tournament
It was mid August 2007 when we all got together for a meeting to participate in something worthwhile. In that meeting Der Zareh introduced the intention of doing the third annual golf tournament. Fr. Zareh’s purpose was to bring different people together to work for a good cause.
Haig Ampagoumian had taken the responsibility to be the chairman of the third annual golf tournament committee of HTAC for 2007 and relieved Masis Afar who was the chairman for the 2nd annual golf committee. Masis still volunteered in the committee and his presence and knowledge on how to go about doing a golf tournament was much appreciated.

We were all excited to volunteer for a great cause which was to create some community activity and raise money for the church.
The date was set for September 23rd, 2007 in Angus Glen Golf Club. It was a beautiful sunny day. There were no clouds on the sky. Have to add that Der Zareh was visiting Armenia at that time but before he left he did his prayers to make sure that we had a good weather. The weather was fantastic, we could not have asked for a better one.
We started the day by registering all the golf players. Then we had a fabulous sponsored barbeque lunch.
The scenery was very beautiful and the whole atmosphere was so serene. After lunch all the players got into their four sums and off to the golf course. It was good to see quite a few women participating in a golf game as well.
It looked like the players were enjoying the game and of course some were trying to win. After the game we got together for a great sponsored steak dinner. The volunteers started selling lottery tickets to raise money. Every one was so kind and helpful, they all bought a lot of tickets not necessarily because they wanted to win but because they felt the money was going for a great cause which is the Armenian Church. We had a lot of donations for the silent auction and of course a gift bag for every one.
After dinner it got quite exciting. The prizes were being handed out for the lowest and highest scores and many other games that were played during the day.

Then Haig started the silent auction. People were raising their bids to win or to have fun I guess. Then we all got so surprised. David Durvall who played golf during the day took over the auction. He sounded really good up there. He was a true auctioneer. The way
he was presenting, every one was getting so excited to give the highest bid. Sport tickets were selling more than the actual market prices. Every one was having a lot of fun. |
