April 21, 2007 Minimize

Literary-Musical Commemoration evening took place on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church under the auspices of Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian the pastor of our church. It was dedicated to the 92nd Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the life of great Armenian composer Komitas. The literary composition was written and led by Gayane Minasyan and Grigor Shahmuradyan. With the limited time and technical resources, the writers created a comprehensive picture of Komitas’ true genius and his iconic figure in Armenian music. He ardently dedicated his life to collecting and refining folk songs into lyrical songs that epitomize the rich marvels of Armenian culture. S_B&W_Komitas.jpg
IMG_2659.jpg The participants – Susanna Harutyunyan, Gohar Tutkhalyan, Yana Papanyan, Hripsik Sarkissian, Hrant Ketenjian, Ara Mouradian, Armine Petrosian, Shogher Menengechian, Hovhannes Petrosyan, Arshak Petrosyan, Spartak Setian, Andranik Tchilingirian, Rev. Archpriest Sarkis Gulyan, and Noune Zohrabyan – created the symbol of the monument, the Tsitsernakaberd, in Yerevan dedicated to the victims of Armenian Genocide.
The culmination that set the mood for the rest of the evening was the symbolic figure of an Armenian family joined hand-in hand with the rising of a child holding a cross from the middle. Standing still and brave – it symbolized the revival of the Armenian people who, though having to withstand great tragedy and injustice, have arisen from our tribulations, preserving our language, faith and culture. At the end, a doleful procession took place towards the Memorial of Victims of the Armenian Genocide, located next to the Holy Trinity Armenian Church, as everyone placed flowers and wreaths to the monument. All present joined Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian in his special prayer for the departed soul of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.
